Hospitality

I couldn’t enter the holy of holies
The blinding light held me at distance
I knew its brightness would pierce my heart
A voice shouted, ‘Stay out! Stay out!”

My eyes blinked and there I was
The very place I vowed never to go
My figure cast shadows and imperfections
A voice warned sternly, ‘Get out! Get out!’

There was no exit in this inescapable place
Only mystery confused each step
A memory bubbled of a pierced heart
Another voice enquired, ‘What if? What if?’

My eyes blinked and there I was
The very last place I vowed never to go
Exhaustion succumbing to surrender
The voice encouraged, ‘Stay now! Stay now!’

Through my eyes the holiest gazed
Light reaching from inside out
The once empty centre now sacredly touched
Oh that gentle voice whispered, ‘Welcome! Welcome!’
